“I Wasn’t Moving Backwards, I Was Making Space.”

A year can change everything…

There’s a date coming up in my calendar that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately.

Almost a year ago, we received a phone call that would completely change the direction of our lives.

At the time, Holistic Heritage was busy. Really busy.

Holistic Heritage had grown into a busy 1:1 women's wellbeing practice. My weeks were centred around working individually with women through reflexology, womb-focused treatments, yoga, sound and restorative therapies. I loved the relationships I'd built with my clients and had worked hard to reach the point where appointments regularly filled my diary. At the time, that fullness felt like one of the clearest signs that the business was working.

My diary was full with 1:1 clients and, from the outside at least, I had reached that place we're so often told we're supposed to aim for in business — fully booked.

Then we found out that there was a baby who might need us.

What followed was months of assessments, meetings, questions and conversations. Could we do this? Did we have the space? The availability? Could our home and our lives adapt to everything a baby would need?

And it wasn't a decision or a process that involved just me.

My older girls were very much part of it too.

They had questions to answer, feelings to work through and changes to consider. We talked as a family about what bringing a baby into our home could mean for all of us — knowing that our routines, our relationships and the way we spent our time might look very different.

There was so much uncertainty because, while we were preparing ourselves for the possibility of becoming a family of five, there were no guarantees about what would happen.

At the same time, the physical space Holistic Heritage was working from needed to change.

So I moved the business.

Looking back now, I don't think I fully appreciated just how much change we were navigating all at once.

I was trying to keep a busy business moving while our whole family was preparing for something enormous — without knowing for certain what the outcome would be.

Inevitably, something had to give.

My availability changed.

My priorities changed.

And eventually, my relationship with the business changed too.

For a while, that was difficult.

Because when you've worked hard to build a fully booked 1:1 practice, watching your diary become quieter can easily feel like you're moving backwards.

But almost a year later, I can see it differently.

I wasn't moving backwards. I was making space.

Space for a baby.

Space for my girls.

Space for our family to find its new rhythm.

And, eventually, space to ask myself a much bigger question:

If Holistic Heritage no longer has to look the way it did before, what do I actually want it to become?

That question has shaped so much of what you've started to see from me this year.

Fewer, more intentional 1:1 appointments.

Community Care.

The development of my Holistic Trinity Method.

Retreats and more immersive experiences.

And now, my Signature Sessions.

I'm learning that success doesn't always have to mean a completely full diary.

For this season of my life, success also means creating a business that can exist alongside my family rather than constantly competing with it.

It means having the space to be present at home while still doing work that I deeply care about.

And it means creating something sustainable — for me, for my family and for the women who choose to spend their time with Holistic Heritage.

As that anniversary approaches, I've found myself thinking about the woman I was when that first phone call came.

She had absolutely no idea what the next twelve months were going to ask of her — or how different life would look on the other side.

There have been difficult moments, beautiful ones and plenty of uncertainty in between.

And Holistic Heritage has changed alongside us.

I'm not trying to rebuild the business I had before anymore.

I'm building the business that fits the life I have now.

And that feels like a very different place to begin.

Thank you to those of you who have stayed with me through all of these changes — whether you've been a client for years, recently discovered Holistic Heritage, attended a session, shared

something I've created, recommended me to someone or simply continued opening these emails.

It means more than you probably realise.

Here's to the next chapter.

Much love,

Phiona 🤎
